Ed Welch
 (born in Oxford, England on October 22nd, 1947) was a composer for Thomas and Friends. He took over as songwriter, along with Robert Hartshorne, for the series beginning with the eighth season, replacing original composers Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell. He left the show after the twelfth season. He also provides the music for the children's show "Funky Valley". Other credits include the BBC's sitcom "One Foot in the Grave" and the game-shows "Catchphrase" and "Blockbusters".
