Thomas and the Pigs is a magazine story illustrated using photographs from the CGI television series. It was republished later in the year with different images and slightly different wording.

Plot

In his spare time, there is nothing Thomas likes better than paying a visit to Farmer Trotter's Pig Farm. One day, Farmer Trotter has some good news; one of his pigs is about to have piglets. Farmer Trotter asks Thomas to get him some straw for the piglets. Thomas puffs away at once; wondering what else the piglets might like. At the dairy, Thomas meets Percy. Thomas asks Percy if he can have some milk for the piglets. Percy agrees and some milk churns are loaded onto Thomas' truck.

Next Thomas sees James at the orchard. Thomas asks if he can have some of James' juicy, red apples. James agrees and some crates of apples are loaded onto Thomas' truck. Finally Thomas reaches Farmer McColl's Farm, but there is no room for the straw on Thomas' truck. Farmer McColl is cross which makes Thomas worried, but is sure that the milk and apples would do. The piglets are due to be born soon, so Thomas hurries back to the pig farm.

Back at the pig farm, Farmer Trotter is cross too. He tells Thomas that the piglets need soft straw, not milk and apples. Thomas empties his truck and races back to McColl Farm where Farmer McColl loads Thomas' flatbed up with straw. Thomas hurries back to the pig farm, just in time. After the piglets are born, Farmer Trotter names one of them Thomas.
